E.ON ENERGY

FREEDOM
IS ELECTRIC

How do you get people to rethink what’s possible with electric cars.

IDEA

In 2017, when people thought of electric cars, they imagined dull, soulless vehicles tied to slow charging at home. However, with a growing European charge point network, E.ON is changing perceptions about EVs. No range anxiety, no outdated assumptions.

We showcased a unique lineup of muscular cars, including the world's only electric monster truck and a one-off electric hypercar, to challenge these perceptions. If electric cars can resemble gas-guzzlers, why can't they outperform them?

The film was entirely electric, from the cars to the tracking vehicles and drones. Even the sounds. Listen carefully, and you’ll notice something unusual about the ‘petrol’ engines. They’re made by electric guitars, painstakingly imitating the sound of V8s to hoodwink the audience into believing they’re real combustion engines.

From custom Hot Rods to 210mph superbikes, and prototype hyper-cars to fully-electric monster trucks, the story of our electric endeavour went far beyond the film itself. We created a series of behind-the-scenes films that met the passionate EV enthusiasts and explored some of the most unique and eclectic cars on the planet.
