RESPITE

With desperately few excuses to get out and away from home during the UK’s second lockdown, women in abusive relationships were forced to make the most of any opportunity for a little respite.

THE FILM

During the COVID lockdowns, women in abusive relationships have far fewer opportunities to get out of the home and spend time away from their partners. Increasingly cornered, their domestic prisons have become ubiquitous, and something as menial as a trip to the supermarket – a chore we all take for granted – becomes their only means of escape, even if it’s just for a little while.
